The Inga Foundation was honored to be selected as 1 of 5 finalists world-wide for the first 2023 Wilkes Center Climate Prize ($1.5 million) at the University of Utah.

Our sincere thanks to the Wilkes Foundation and Center for recognizing the power of grassroots, sustainable programs that empower smallholder families while sequestering and avoiding massive amounts of carbon. We are grateful for the visibility and recognition from this prestigious climate program.

The Wilkes Center leverages the University of Utah’s unique position and environment to drive world-class research on climate change forecasting, impacts, and solutions. Clay and Marie Wilkes have worked on humanitarian projects for decades, leading education and economic initiatives in Salt Lake City, Peru, and Nepal. The Wilkes Center for Climate Science and Policy was created in 2022 as a result of their desire to urgently address threats created by climate change. The winner will be announced in September, 2023.
